SELECTING SEQUENCES FOR TRAINING AND TESTING

Study the graph below to understand the meaning of the parameters LSKIP, LEARNC, ITSKIP, TESTC used to select the sequences for training and testing. In Exercise 1 they are taken from the same file. Click here to view the actual data file.

Consider also the restrictions that the scheme below imposes. Obviously, the 4 parameters should be chosen in such a way that the training set does not overlap with the test set. Furthermore, neither LSKIP+LEARNC nor ITSKIP+TESTC may be larger than the actual number of sequences in the data file.
